About me
I am an artist and a writer. For me, art functions as an essential form of research: an iterative process of making that maps the human experiences that empirical data cannot capture.
My creative practice is deeply informed by my foundational career. Driven by an academic background in neuroscience and the premature birth of my two children, I dedicated years to independent research and systemic advocacy within the field of prematurity. That period of intense investigation culminated in the publication of Born Strong, a semi-scientific memoir born of necessity, written to answer the profound questions that personal experience alone could not resolve.
Today, while the rigor of that research remains, my primary mode of inquiry is the blank page. Operating from a tranquil home studio, I dedicate my daily practice to translating complex, invisible realities into tangible forms. I explore the striking contrasts of charcoal, pencil, and ink, while actively expanding my visual language through the fluidity of acrylic and watercolor.
The discipline required to maintain this daily exploration is directly fueled by my physical pursuits. The immense endurance demanded by marathon running and the meticulous, stitch-by-stitch patience of knitting perfectly mirror my creative methodology. Whether I am writing, drawing, or experimenting with raw materials, I am continuously building.
This space serves as the portfolio of that ongoing investigation.
